Privacy
Written for parents. It is short because the site does very little.
The short version
- No accounts, no logins, no comments.
- No cookies. No advertising. No trackers. Nothing is sold or shared.
- Visits are counted anonymously. We cannot tell who you are.
- The contact form is for grown-ups and teenagers. Children under 13 are asked to have a parent send the message instead, so we never receive their details.
Who runs this site
Aston is a child. The site is operated by his parent, who is responsible for it and reads anything sent through it. Any message you send reaches the parent, not the child directly.
Counting visits
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count how many people read each page. It does not use cookies, does not follow you to other websites, and does not tell us who you are. We see totals — “this page was read 400 times” — and nothing that identifies a person.
There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracking script of any kind. The fonts are served from this site rather than fetched from Google, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited.
The contact form
Before the form appears, it asks what year you were born. If the answer means you are under 13, no form is shown at all and nothing is sent — instead you are asked to have a parent or guardian email instead, from their own email program.
If you do use the form, it asks for a name, a way to reply, and your message. That goes straight to an email inbox through a service called Resend. It is not saved in a database, because this site does not have one. It sits in an email inbox like any other email, and is deleted when it is no longer needed.
The server briefly notes the IP address a message came from, to stop the form being flooded by bots. It is held in memory for ten minutes and never written to disk.
Children under 13
This site is written for children, so we take this part seriously. The US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) governs collecting personal information from children under 13.
Our approach is not to collect any. There are no accounts, no comments, no uploads, no newsletter, and no form for under-13s. The age question on the contact page exists so a child is never asked for their name or email in the first place. If we ever learn that a child under 13 has sent us personal information anyway, we delete it.
If you are a parent and believe your child has sent us something, email hello@astonvigil.com and we will delete it and confirm that we have.
Who else is involved
- Vercel hosts the site and provides the anonymous visit counting.
- Resend delivers contact-form messages to an email inbox.
That is the entire list. Nobody buys data from us, because there is none to buy.
Asking us to delete something
Email hello@astonvigil.com. Say what you sent and roughly when, and it will be deleted. You do not need to explain why.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date below changes with it. Last updated 2 September 2026.
